This is amazing to read, it’s so true about distortion via the world but incredible how God redeems us and calls us back for His purpose.🙏🏻

“But God doesn’t need us to be someone else to glorify himself in our lives. He only needs us to allow him to redeem what has been distorted.” Wow. Thank you so much for sharing! I never realized that people’s interest in zodiac signs etc may be reflecting a desire to understand why we are the way we are. And your reference to the Levites in the Bible and how God still used them really change my perspective. An excellent read!

I really enjoyed this essay! It reminds me of the chapter in Weight of Glory (Membership) that talks about how our personality has so many aspects that God can really use-and how we are each so incredibly different. It shows how it's not that we let go of aspects of our personality entirely when we grow with Christ; but they shine even more beautifully and we become even more ourselves, I guess the way we were first intended to be. It can definitely be marred with sin, but I think we are all so unique for a purpose. Even when we see the body of Christ, how each organ is so different and yet serves such a unique purpose, i think it shows how we have such different personalities, and strengths and weaknesses as well.

Thank you so much, friend :)

I love your perspective. While I was writing, I was reminded of that verse that says something like “becoming more like Jesus means becoming less ourselves,” and now I understand it in a whole different way.

It's not about becoming someone else but asking God to purify what we are and redeem it to virtue again.
